When you step foot out of your house, it is only normal to see numerous people, young and old, walking down the street wearing all sorts of colors, outfits and accessories.  People have been expressing themselves for decades through what they wear.  One of the most popular rising trends these days is Indie clothing.  What most people are asking, however, is how do you dress indie?

Well to start off, don’t just buy and wear regular T-shirts.  It’s always good to layer shirts especially with vests and cardigans.  Wearing basic T-shirts with one solid color, simple stripes or V-neck shirts are a few options you can pick from when trying to have more of an Indie look.  Also, flannels are a big hit in the Indie world too.  Wearing a plaid flannel shirt, whether you are a male or female, is a great look with one of your stylish T-shirts underneath. 

When the weather gets a little cooler, jackets are important.  For girls, pea coats are a must in the Indie world.  Do not opt for the long pea coats though.  Stick with ones that end up right below your hip.  Underneath your pea coat, cardigans are always your best friend.  Whether they are patterned, striped or solid, they are great to wear with tank tops or T-shirts.  However, with all of the colors and patterns that Indie clothes have to offer, make sure you don’t get too out of control with your mixing and matching!

For guys, during cooler weather, vintage leather jackets are a terrific way to go and you can even decorate them with pins for that little extra Indie fashion statement.  Sweater vests also look great with your favorite T-shirt or you can choose to wear a track jacket which is good all year long.  As far as pants go, dark pants are most prevalent.  Black, dark denim and grey pants work well for both sexes.  If you decide to wear a colored denim jean, just make sure it matches whatever shirt you are wearing.
